How to Get the Most Out of Your Soy Wax Candle

We LOVE when your home smells amazing, and a little candle care goes a long way in helping your candle burn clean, even, and beautifully from the first light to the very last cozy evening.

Our soy wax candles are hand-poured in small batches here in Marion, Iowa, and like any handmade product, they do best with just a bit of care. Nothing complicated, we promise.

Let the first burn do its thing

The first burn is the one that sets the tone. When you light a new candle, try to let the wax melt all the way across the top before blowing it out. This helps prevent tunneling and gives your candle a better, more even burn the next time you use it.

Trim that wick

Before each burn, trim your wick to about 1/4 inch. A trimmed wick helps keep the flame steady, reduces soot, and lets the fragrance shine without the flame getting too wild.

Do not burn it all day

We get it. When you find a scent you love, it is tempting to keep it going forever. But candles usually perform best when burned for a few hours at a time. This helps protect the fragrance, the wax, and the container.

Give your candle a good spot

Keep your candle away from drafts, fans, vents, open windows, and anything flammable. A steady environment helps the wax melt evenly and keeps the flame from dancing around too much.

Know when to say goodbye

Once about 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom, it is time to retire the candle. That little bit of wax helps protect the container from getting too hot.
