Meet the Makers: The Story Behind Nature's Flame

Welcome to the Nature's Flame blog! Whether you are completely new here or you have been burning our candles since we poured our very first batch, we realized we haven't properly introduced ourselves.

We are Bruce and Ashley, the husband-and-wife team behind Nature’s Flame. We are based right here in Marion, Iowa, where we are busy raising our family, working our day jobs, and pouring our hearts into this growing brand. We are so incredibly thrilled to share a little bit of our journey with you.

 

How the Flame Was Lit

Nature's Flame officially began in 2025, but the spark was there long before that. Like many of you, we have always loved burning candles. There is just something magical about lighting a wick and letting a beautiful scent transform the mood of a room.

Eventually, that shared love for home fragrance turned into a desire to create our own. We wanted to step out and build a brand that reflected exactly what we looked for: clean fragrances, all-natural soy wax, and affordable prices. This passion project has truly brought us closer together, allowing us to dive headfirst into our entrepreneurial spirits and get more involved in our local community.

The Hustle Behind the Scents

We want to be completely transparent: building a business from the ground up is hard work. Between managing our full-time careers and raising our family, Nature's Flame is our side hustle—meaning our evenings, weekends, and spare moments are dedicated to making this dream a reality.

Everything you see from Nature's Flame is done in-house and by hand. From testing and blending the scents, to hand-pouring the wax, designing the labels, and boxing up your orders, it is just the two of us working together as a 50/50 team. We know how difficult it is to grow a small business, especially in the current economy, but we are determined to push through. We believe in the quality of what we are making, and we are willing to put in the late nights to see it succeed.

Growing With Your Help

As a self-funded, family-run business, we don't have massive marketing budgets. We are actively working to grow our brand entirely through social media and word of mouth, which means we need all the help we can get!

If you love your room mists or wax melts, telling a friend, sharing a post on your Instagram or Facebook, or leaving a review does more for us than you could possibly know. It is the lifeblood of our business.

Looking to the Future

Our goal is to continue to grow and expand. We are constantly dreaming up new products and fragrances to help make your house feel like a home. Eventually, we would absolutely love to see Nature's Flame become a way to fully support our family's livelihood.

We are so profoundly blessed by the community that has rallied around us. We are deeply grateful for everyone who supports us in any capacity—whether you have bought a dozen candles, shared our page with a neighbor, or are just taking the time to read this post right now.
